May 16, 2008 - True, it was based on the flawed assumption of 'my enemies enemy is a friend of mine' when quite frankly, America would have been alot better off supporting the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. Many Afghans of that era remember the Communists (well, they were more socialist than communist) who forced the country to being secular, improved the quality of life for females, health care and education improved. Imagine what would have happened had the US supported the Soviet Union :D

May 16, 2008 - Islam changes it's nature based on population percentages. If you want to see examples of this, just look at: Lebanon, Kosovo, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Eritrea, etc.Almost across the board when Muslim's hit 20% of the population, the whole game changes.
