Esta historia es una anécdota y un recuerdo de uno de los momentos gloriosos que ha tenido el fútbol salvadoreño. Este 04 de abril del 2008 se cumplen 15 años de una histórica victoria frente a México en la primera fecha de la ronda final rumbo a USA 94. El escenario fue el Estadio Cuscatlán y la selecta venía de terminar en primer lugar en la ronda previa triunfando sobre rivales como Jamaica y Canadá. Había un cupo directo en juego y fue el primer triunfo salvadoreño sobre México en nuestras tierras. El 04 de abril de 1993 se enfrentaban El Salvador versus México en el Estadio Cuscatlán, por un boleto a USA 94. El ambiente en el estadio era majestuoso. El juego estaba programado para las 12:00 m y a las 8:00 AM el coloso estaba casi repleto, sobretodo el sector de sol general. Ahí afuera habían dormido los aficionados esperando ese gran día y bajo un sol que cada vez se hacía más fuerte, la hora del partido se llegaba. Se sabía que el rival era fuerte; ahí venía Jorge Campos, García Aspe, Miguel Herrera, Benjamín Galindo, Claudio Suárez y por supuesto Hugo Sánchez. El partido sería arbitrado por Armando Pérez Hoyos, reconocido internacional colombiano que ya había estado en certámenes como la Copa América 1987. El ex delantero de Real Madrid le había echado chile al partido al declarar antes de venir a El Salvador que "ni por accidente perderemos en el Cuscatlán". El salvadoreño todavía tenía presente la burla de la "pelota cuadrada" , por lo que dichas declaraciones no cayeron nada en gracia. La afición de sol general le respondió a su manera con una frase que se volvió histórica y célebre: "AUNQUE AL MUNDIAL NO VAYAMOS, A MÉXICO LE GANAMOS". Before the game they said thousands of bad things of us...As that we play with the square ball, that we are Indians, who were not going to lose for anything of the world, etc etc etc...The game I end and we win ... and they went away with his words to home

May 17, 2008 - Rumbo al mundial 1994 quedemas en tercer lugar amigos. HOY EN DIA, el tercer lugar clasifica al mundial tercer lugar en el hexagonal! USA tuvo su pase libre al mundial 94, mexico paso porque logro el primer lugar y canada quedo en segundo PERO tenia que jugar con otro equipo de otra zona para clasificar. y despues el salvador en tercer, ESTE SI FUE EQUIPASO!!! ojale que vengan estos tiempos otra vez!!!

May 17, 2008 - In 1954, we gain them in his home the cup of the Central American and caribeam games, in 1981, El Salvador win to mexico and I leave out of the world cup of Spain 82 and there it began the rivalry with them.In 1993 we win them (it is this video), in 2002 we face again and win them, in 2001 we defeat them in the final of the Central American games and of the Carib again ... then we have a saying: " though to the world one we do not go, but to mexico we win him"

May 17, 2008 - El Cuscatlan JAMAS se ha vuelto a ver asi de lleno, hay distintas clases de llenos, este fue un lleno apretado a reventar! Creo que el unico que se le compara fue el de El Salvador-Honduras del '85 cuando temblo y lastimosamente perdimos 2 a 1, habia gente hasta en la "zanja" de abajo, en un video por alli de homenaje al "magico" se ven unas cuantas tomas de ese partido y no se ve la estructura del estadio solo gente! que chivo! May 17, 2008 - sadly, there was a game in the next qualifying (France '98) The ref (argentino of course) did not call a clear penalti in our favor in the pouring rain, and gave mexico the win 1 x 0 with a questionable off side goal by Luis Garcia. I wish someone could upload that video to show everyone how mexico always gets help (they don't need it!)

May 17, 2008 - Un detalle importantisimo de esta eliminatoria...algo que JAMAS se lo harian a Mexico y yo no se porque somos tan pendejos y nunca decimos nada o protestamos y nos dejamos! El calendario para esta eliminatoria fue absurdo, despues de este partido contra Mexico nos toco jugar TODOS los juegos de visitante en fila, los perdimos todos y regresamos a casa ya eliminados a jugar los partidos de local que nos quedaban... ridiculo, injusto pero como la concacaf le lame el culo a mexico!
